Boosting Social Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSMEs) in Palestine
The ‘Boosting Social Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Palestine’ project was initiated to strengthen the business capacities of social MSMEs to improve their business performance while improving the work environment.
The project considers cooperatives and community based organizations as an umbrella to deliver services to low income people and at the same time address issues connected with their basic rights. Therefore, the project is directed at building the local cooperatives, community based organizations (CBOs) and NGOs in its main strategy to promote the development of the civil society through the Social Enterprises (SEs) and SMEs development.
Interventions of the project are implied in four main components: (a) Development of organizations and their capabilities to better defend the rights and address the needs of members, the poor and vulnerable. At this stage, this component is focused on building the capacity ofSEC itself (b) Business development to increase business capacities for Social MSMEs in Palestine through conducting a diagnostic study of Social MSMEs, developing new business model for social MSMEs, piloting new business model for MSMEs, and finally Long-term project to be designed based on a best-practice identified during the pilot phase. (c) Lobbying and advocacy promoting policy issues and sustainable agricultural practices among small farmers, promote urban initiatives to ameliorate the environment and raising awareness about climate change issues; (d) Gender Equality and women rights, addressing their situation at family, community and organizations level, promoting and supporting initiatives to generate better opportunities for females.
